When good enough isn't Good Enough
It just struck me as interesting how wide and varied the profession is. On the residential end of things we struggle so much with legitimacy. Everyone thinks they can do our job and why pay for an architect. "my cousin is an architect" often means that they took high school drafting classes. I have little interest in that sort of debate. I took those classes too. I was very talented. then I spent 7 years in higher ed. then I got 25 years of practical experience. When I look at the work I did 10 years ago I think it is not so great. But it was good enough. And that's all most people need - good enough. For the next 20 years of my practice I shall seek out those clients for whom good enough is not good enough.
